About the New Arrival Awards

The Cribsie New Arrivals represent the best new brands and products of the year, with recommendations from the Cribsie Academy, a prestigious panel of industry leaders, experts, and celebrities. Brands pay a $300 fee to submit their products for review. All products approved by the Cribsie Award editors are featured here. Additionally, all accepted New Arrivals are judged by the Cribsie Academy: those rated at least a 3.5 out of 5 across four criteria (innovation, style/design, marketability, and utility) are granted an Academy Star. All 2016 New Arrivals will be judged by the Academy in early 2017. Stars will be announced March 2, 2017.

Meet the Academy

  • New Arrival FAQ

What are the Cribsie New Arrivals?

The Cribsie New Arrivals represent the best new brands and products of the year, with recommendations from the Cribsie Academy, a prestigious panel of industry leaders, experts, and celebrities. Only products introduced to market in the US in 2016 are eligible for 2016 New Arrival status.

The mission of the New Arrival Academy Stars is to bestow a definitive honor upon the leading innovators within the baby and kids market in order to recognize and encourage innovation, good design, and utility.

    What is the Cribsie Academy?

The Cribsie Academy was founded in 2011 to honor innovation and achievement in the baby and kids industry. Comprising top luminaries and experts in the parenting sphere, the Cribsie Academy includes industry influencers ranging from brand CEOs to top retail buyers to TV morning show producers to celebrity tastemakers.

What qualifies as a new product?

A product must have been brought to market in the United States in 2016 to qualify for entry. Generally, new products, new labels, new lines, new collections, new line extensions, new websites, new blogs, and new apps qualify. New seasonal collections, styles, or color variations do not qualify.

Questions about qualification or eligibility should be directed to editors@cribsieawards.com.

What are the Academy’s judging criteria for Academy Stars?

Each submission will be evaluated on the following criteria: innovation, style/design, marketability and utility.
    • INNOVATION: Is the product unique and does it offer something original in terms of design or use?
    • STYLE/DESIGN: Is the product designed with an aesthetic consideration?
    • MARKETABILITY: Will the product sell? Could it influence future trends?
    • UTILITY: Does the product fulfill a vital function for parents?

What are the benefits of submitting a product for Cribsie New Arrival consideration?

New Arrivals are immediately and permanently displayed on the Cribsie Award website, as the best new products of the year in which they were introduced. Submitting a product or brand for the Cribsie New Arrival program offers exposure to top media, buyers, and decision makers in the baby and kids industry. Your product will be reviewed by the who’s who of the industry. New Arrivals who are granted Star status by the Academy will be marketed as the best new products of 2016—enjoying extensive promotion and support from the Cribsie Award co-hosts, StrollerTraffic and The Baby Guy, who will promote the winners to influential members of the media and the tremendously engaged communities of StrollerTraffic and Baby Guy parents, via email and social media. All New Arrivals have complimentary use of the Cribsie Awards New Arrival badges.

What is the difference between the general Cribsie Awards and the New Arrivals?

Nominations for the general Cribsie Awards are free and open to the public. Approximately 350 finalists (across six categories and 60 awards) are selected by the Cribsie Editors. Winners are then elected by a public voting process that limits votes to one unique vote per award per email address.

Entries for the New Arrivals incur a $300 submission fee. Entrants are reviewed by a selection committee, and Stars are granted by the esteemed Cribsie Academy.

How does the New Arrival process work?

Each entry will be reviewed by a selection committee, upon submission. Accepted submissions will be billed a $300 submission fee. Once paid, accepted submissions will be posted on the Cribsie Awards New Arrival page. All accepted New Arrival submissions will then be judged by the Cribsie Academy in early 2017; Stars will be announced on March 2, 2017. To qualify as an Academy Star, entrants must be rated at least a 3.5 out of 5 across four judging categories (innovation, style/design, marketability, utility), and must not receive a score lower than 2 in any one category.

How to do I submit my brand or product for New Arrival status?

To enter the 2016 Cribsie New Arrival program, complete the official entry form on this page. All entries must be submitted by December 9, 2016. You must complete a separate entry form for each product you wish to submit. Once you complete your form(s), the Cribsie Editors will review your submission within 3 business days. Accepted submissions will then be billed $300. Upon receipt of payment, your New Arrival will be posted on the site.

The Cribsie Academy exerts the right to request up to four samples of your product in order to complete the judging process. Failure to comply will disqualify the brand from participation. For more information, email editors@cribsieawards.com.
