01 Mar Silver Cross Wave
The Wave is the first contemporary stroller offered to the United States by Silver Cross (the world’s oldest stroller brand, est. 1877.) An inclusive single stroller with the capabilities built into the chassis so that you can easily convert to a double stroller, straight out of the box, the Wave is designed to grow with you and your family. The system, retailing for $1,299, comes with a 3-year warranty after registration online and has 16 achievable configurations in all. A first-time mother has the option to use the bassinet for her newborn until about 6 months, then the main seat, which is also included in the package, as the baby grows into it. The bassinet is also approved for overnight sleeping, no stand necessary. Adapters built into the chassis easily raise the main seat higher or lower, and the seat also has the ability to be forward or rear-facing. The 5 settings on the handlebar adjust comfortably to mom or dads’ height with one hand, and there is even a cup holder for your daily dose of caffeine. Both seats come with rain covers and mosquito nets. The main seat comes with a reversible seat liner; the bassinet, with a breathable, removable, and easy to clean bamboo mattress and interior which is hypoallergenic, with natural antibacterial qualities. Both seats also come with their own SPF +50 sunshades built in, and fabric sets, in order to keep your baby protected against all elements. All external fabrics are also water-resistant; and the Vegan leather on the handle bar won’t fade in sunlight and is non-porous so that you can spot-clean it as well. There are also Universal Carseat Adapters included in the package that fit select Nuna, Maxi-Cosi, or Cybex car seat models, making the transition of baby from car to stroller as seamless as it gets. Additionally, lower car seat adapters are available for purchase, making the Wave a perfect option for parents of twins as well.
The waterproof basket below is spacious enough to carry up to 33 lbs. of whatever you’ll need to go about facing your day, and the base is also waterproofed to protect your things from the occasional puddle. The magnesium alloy chassis and suspension system also makes pushing this stroller a breeze, even at maximum weight capacity; which is 55 lbs for the main seat, and 45 lbs for the tandem seat. A flip-flop friendly brake and lockable front wheels make the stroller easy to fold and wheel, and the wheels themselves are never-flat tires, so you’ll be fully prepared for whatever terrain that lies ahead of you, and can be assured that your baby keeps napping as you navigate. The silent-close hoods on both seats, and magnets, rather than zippers and noisy Velcro also help. Adapters made of reinforced steel are included with the complete package, should you decide to buy the tandem seat (ret. $349) in addition to the main package for a second child.
